Being "Normal"

Today Bradord and I got to go to my OB to see Baby Z! It was so emotional to finally walk into my “normal” doctor’s office and have my first “normal” sonogram with that jelly I’ve dreamt of for so long. Baby Z is right on track and has a “perfect” heart rate. We saw a little head and arm buds. Baby Z was already a little wiggle worm, but at just 1.2cm , I obviously can’t feel any of that movement just yet. We are so excited and grateful.

We see my Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) on Wednesday to hopefully begin weaning myself off of my last hormone injection in the next couple weeks! I’m close to “graduating” from my RE, but I found out today that I’ll see a Fetal Medicine Specialist in addition to my OB my entire pregnancy because IVF babies are considered high risk pregnancies. This honestly is comforting to me because I’ll have twice the appointments a typical pregnancy has, which means I’ll get extra monitoring and extra sonograms more frequently. So far, the most difficult part of pregnancy has been waiting and wondering between appointments. I’ve gone from infertility monitoring every 2-3 days to weeks between appointments and, while I know this is “normal”, it’s not my normal, and it’s really been very difficult on my mental health and anxiety.

As always, thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. Baby Z is doing great, but we know not to take anything for granted. One step at a time.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

I'm Courtney, and this is my fertility journey to baby Z. We're 16 months in, and will be beginning IUI in March 2021. Writing has always been therapeutic to me, and after sharing my story on FB it was suggested for me to begin a blog. It's my hope that this blog can help you through your infertility journey, or help you help someone you love through theirs. Thanks for being here.

Let the posts
come to you.
